2) Barbell shrugs.
Barbell shrugs are the mother of all trapezius exercises. They aim solely to develop the trapezius, and though it is an isolation exercise, given the nature of the target muscle-group it can be executed with massive weights.
The subject holds the barbell in front of him grasping it with both hands at about shoulder width apart.
He/she then shrugs his/her shoulders as if trying to touch his/her ears with the shoulders. The pose needs to be held a bit at the peak of the motion then the barbell slowly lowered while kept under control.
Special considerations: - make sure you keep your back straight, because given the amount of weight used an incorrect spinal-cord position can lead to accidents.
